How Much Does Sedation Dentistry Cost?

The price can vary based on the type of sedation you use. Here at Ultra Smiles, we offer different types of anesthesia and sedation, including local anesthesia, laughing gas, and oral sedation options. If you need sedation for your next procedure, we are here for you. We have helped many patients with the use of sedation for a more comfortable, stress-free appointment. That is our aim for you, as well.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Local anesthesia is used before dental appointments to numb the treatment area and reduce any potential discomfort. However, some patients need additional care to help them relax. Sedation dentistry allows us to sedate a patient gently, so they are more comfortable and at ease during treatment. We can use medications combined with local to make your next appointment as pain- and stress-free as possible.

At our practice, we offer the following sedation options:

  • Laughing Gas: A gentle, breathable gas. We combine the with oxygen and administer it through a small mask placed over the nose. Laughing gas is a mild form of sedation that helps put the patient into a state of ease and relaxation during treatment. It has no lasting effects and wears off immediately once the gas is turned off. Laughing gas is safe for children and we recommend it for patients of all ages.
  • Oral Sedation: A mild to moderate form of sedation, depending on the dosage given. We administer it orally as a pill or liquid. Once taken, patients enter a state of deep relaxation throughout their treatment. Patients remain awake but are completely at ease. The effects of oral sedation can last up to one to two hours following treatment.

Who Is a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation is recommended for patients with dental anxiety to help them relax. It is also recommended for patients with certain physical conditions that prevent their jaw or other muscles from relaxing during treatment. To determine if laughing gas or oral sedation is right for you, we will take a thorough medical history.

Outstanding Dentist. I’m guilty of not visiting the dentist as often as I should over the years. The experience at Ultra Smiles has been nothing but enjoyable. The entire staff has been courteous and professional. Dr Nwankwo’s care and treatment was outstanding. Thank you so much.
